An inventory of lost property officers of Travelodge suggests mobile phones and chargers are the items most forgotten. About 6 million people stayed at the group's properties in 2005. Some of the top 10 items left behind were mobile phones, laptops, electrical gadgets and keys.

Based on figures from the Association of European Airlines (AEA), Insureandgo said the number of bags lost throughout Europe rose 22% over the same period compared with last year, even though passenger numbers only rose by 1.4%.
The AEA figures exclude budget airlines such as Easyjet and Ryanair.
